Using the onscreen keyboard
When you close the hardware QWERTY, you can still enter text using
the onscreen keyboard. Some applications open the onscreen
keyboard automatically. In others, you touch a text field where you
want to enter text to open the onscreen keyboard.
You can also enter text by speaking instead of by typing. See “Using
your voice to enter text” on page 47.
To enter text
1 Touch a text field. The onscreen keyboard opens.
You can also use the Trackpad to select a text field and then press
the Trackpad to open the onscreen keyboard.
2 Touch the keys on the keyboard to type.
3 Touch the Delete key to erase characters to the left of the
cursor. Tap and hold to erase a word to the left of the cursor.
4 When you’re finished typing, press Back to close the keyboard.
Touch once to capitalize the
next letter you type. Touch &
hold for all caps.
Touch the keys to enter text.
